Research goals

The Laboratory of Neurobiology and Cognition (LNC, UMR 6155) depends on both the CNRS and the Université de Provence. It gathers four research groups which share the common goal of studying the neural bases of information processing underlying cognitive behaviors. Four main research themes are addressed, each by a different team :
  1. Cognitive functions of basal ganglia
  2. Chronometry and brain dynamics
  3. Neural bases of spatial cognition
  4. Multisensory control of movement
These issues are tackled using a variety of approaches combining the study of behavior (trajectometry, chronometry, learning and memory, …) and various methods for analyzing brain activity (e.g., pharmacology, electro-encephalography, functional magnetic resonance imaging, trans-cranial magnetic stimulation, single unit recordings, …). The laboratory, located near Saint-Charles main railway station in Marseille, is one of the three components of the Pôle 3C "Comportement - Cerveau - Cognition".
